2016 Army Night Dinner
1LT OLIVER PHILIP KAY, US Army Reserve.  From one side of the pond to the other - the journey of a young man from a tiny village in Dorset, southwest England across the world to modern day Los Angeles. Enamored by his grandfathers service in WWII in the Royal Navy, by Lawrence of Arabia and through his love of the outdoors and adventure.
1LT Oliver (Olly) Kay joined the British Army in Sep 1999. After a few years in Bristol and Oxford OTC, in May 2005 he was accepted into the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS). He was commissioned on his 25th birthday, and deployed to Kuwait in late 2007.  He was promoted in April 2008 to 1LT and subsequently deployed on Operation TELIC 13 to Basra, Iraq where he became Company Second in Command -- A Company.
In August 2009 Olly resigned his British commission and moved to the US.  In June 2010 he enlisted in the US Army Reserves, and in September completed Basic Combat Training. He then joined the UCLA ROTC and commissioned into the US Army Reserves Military Intelligence in December 2013. He graduated from UCLA September 2013 with a Bachelors Degree in Middle East and North African Studies with Arabic.   Read more about our program in this month's bulletin...
