Our second annual Commonwealth Night was a roaring success with a solid attendance by Members and Guests. For those unable to join us, let’s just say our event had the flavor of the Commonwealth from the very beginning, with a Steel Drum duo ensemble played by two master musicians on the instruments from the Caribbean and England. They welcomed our Members and Guests at the reception and set the atmosphere for getting to know several first-time visitors. 

Captain Rob Meyer did a masterful job of preparing a short video prior to dinner service to get us further into the Commonwealth mood. The dining room was arrayed with Commonwealth décor including miniature flags of the Commonwealth countries provided by Major Sandor Mayuga. We were very fortunate to have as our keynote speaker, Collette Weston – Her Britannic Majesty’s Deputy Consul General in Los Angeles. Her personal experiences and understanding of customs in over 15 of the Union’s countries reinforced that our Club has a solid connection to the Commonwealth. We need to strengthen this bond. 

Finally, Happy Holidays to all - especially those unable to attend next month’s Family Christmas Dinner which promises to be an enjoyable evening.
