Welcome to 2018 and to a New Year for our British United Services Club of Los Angeles. Greetings to all. 2017 was a challenging year for the Club but your elected officers, Executive Council Members and you the “below the salt team” Members all stepped up to ensure the Club’s continued success. Thanks to you our membership numbers grew in 2017 although very slightly.
This New Year provides an excellent opportunity for all Members to recommit their time and talent to the Club so we can begin to strenghten our Membership – both in UK/CW Members and overall numbers. There is always strength in numbers, but those numbers need not be monumental; as a few can make all the difference.
Last year we rearranged our monthly schedule and took the first steps to reinventing the Club while maintaining our core values and Membership requirements. We moved the Annual Ball to May to combine that evening with Ladies Night, and in November we celebrated our first and very successful Commonwealth Night. Overall attendance at our Commonwealth Night has increased both in members attending as well as guests and with your help (assistance) we hope to continue trend. In 2018 have the opportunity to continue to make these two events even more successful. I am encouraging all Members, both Active and Associate, to attend our Annual General Meeting on Friday, January 12th. We have important business to discuss, and every Member will have a voice. Please review all of our official announcements and ‘paperwork’ with emphasis on the AGM Notice which are enclosed in the bulletin.
